PROJECT: Shutters in Bristol

Venturing over to Somerset & Gloucestershire

Bristol is a city steeped in history, being one of the largest and oldest cities in the West Country, lying between Somerset and Gloucestershire. London Shutters are proud to say that we have installed traditional wooden interior shutters into a fittingly traditional Victorian Terrace in South Bristol. A far cry from London, but the quality and finish remains second to none, wherever our company installs! So, read more for our venture over to the West Country!

Wooden shutters are so versatile they suit many property types, from older homes like Georgian styled imposing town houses, to modern loft conversions and studios. We have found though, that home owners of Victorian homes are often drawn to the style and finish of our wooden products as they naturally enhance the features and proportions of homes from the turn of the 19th century.

It’s easy to see why this Gloucestershire couple opted for these window coverings having contacted our company as we supply some of the finest quality window coverings throughout the South East at a price that is second to none. Our fully trained designer was booked in to measure up this mid terraced two up, two down terraced house and offered some advice for the window coverings design to compliment the beautiful home, as there were several period features which we were able to bring out with the design of our products.

More than just an installation company

The property had undergone a comprehensive but sympathetic renovation and our designer offered the owners a great solution for complimenting the chic design style they had embraced for this house. Two cast iron Victorian fireplaces remained in two of the rooms, the main living room and master bedroom and it was decided that these rooms would employ our lovely stained louver shutters together with traditional looking antique brass hinges. The other rooms would opt for a slightly lighter stain colour, which presented a similar enough solution in keeping with the two largest rooms, whilst giving the smaller rooms their own stamp of design flair. The bathroom had a gorgeous roll top bath and bright white shutters were used to keep the large family bathroom bright and airy as well as offering a splash proof solution.

In the second bedroom it was decided to use tier on tier coverings, with a twist! We had solid panels on the lower part of the shutter and louvers on the upper. This system was chosen (at no extra cost) as the spare room housed the new addition to their family and having solid lower panels created a sense of extra security as well as light blocking for the nursery room. We’ve transformed all manner of customer properties in the UK south east, mainly in London such as these Dulwich window shutters here.

The home owners were so delighted that they agreed to allow us to show the plans for their home, together with the products we employed for the icing on the cake of their renovation project in our Bristol install factsheet, which you can download here as a PDF. It shows some of the ideas we used as well as providing inspiration for your potential install. They’ve already recommended our company to friends and we are pleased to say that this won’t be London Shutters last installation in beautiful Bristol city!
